It is a catastrophe pure and simple. The drilling company may be guilty of negligence and / or incompetence. Energy companies farm out all stages of oil exploration. BP is of course ultimately responsible. There is really no upside to this other than BP probably hit a mighty prolific oil reservoir. It’s a shame that it happened in the Gulf of Mexico because so many people depend on it for the fisheries and energy.
The US lobbied for the Libby Dam to the BC gov’t. with recreational potential as a key selling point. The original intention of the reservoir is not being honoured. Lake Koocanusa generates a considerable amount of commercial activity for the Fernie area. Let’s protect our interests. Why let the US Army Corps let the fat cat agricultural lobby win the day?

Wow! Conrad still has the verbosity of a …. Hard to give a sufficient analogy. If Canada could only harness his ego it could reduce our energy consumption considerably. I’m not sure if China has any concrete long range plans other than to do the best it can.
