ParticipantHey Fernie-ites!
Anybody had any good experience with VOiP phones around here? I’d love to hear.
Thanks

ParticipantI’ve had good service from Igonet ( http://www.igonet.com ) for over a year now. I pay $30/month for unlimited calling anywhere in North America. The only drawback is that the only BC numbers they have are local to Victoria – no big deal for making outgoing calls but if someone wants to call you it’s like they’re calling Victoria. The unlimited long distance is really nice if you have a lot of friends/relatives elsewhere in Canada or the U.S.

ParticipantI’ve been using quite a few different home brands and business products over the last 3 years. They all really seem to perform the same way. You can now wireless phones which have a base station that plugs right into your router. pretty good pricing at staples.
You should use a router with QOS though. This allows the voice traffic to go through your internet before anything else. Linksys have some pretty cheap home wireless routers that have QOS in them…..not sure how well they work though. QOS and VOIP go hand in hand.
I think it is sometimes best just to stay with a hardline. If it’s a business I would def stay with a hardline.
