      To valued community members, friends, local businesses and the corporate community;

      Dear Sir or Madam:

      On August 16th 2008 we invite you join us at the BC Ambulance station in Fernie for P.A.R.T.Y Day.

      P.A.R.T.Y Day is the first annual fundraising event for the Elk Valley P.A.R.T.Y program. What is P.A.R.T.Y. program? It began as a Canadian initiative dedicated to Preventing Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth. Grade 10 students in the Elk Valley have been participation in the P.A.R.T.Y. program for the past 11 years. P.A.R.T.Y program is a fast paced ?Ç‚Äútell it like it is?Ç‚Äù injury prevention program designed to educate students about risk taking and making smart choices. ?Ç‚ÄòThe stupid line?Ç‚Äô is introduced as a way for students to decide where to draw the line between good and poor decision-making. A day at P.A.R.T.Y. allows students to learn how to stay safe through a series of hands on activities, demonstrations and guest speakers. P.A.R.T.Y. is run by dedicated volunteers and is funded through donations from generous people and businesses in our community.

      On August 16th the fundraising activities will include a car wash sponsored by BC Ambulance, a dog wash sponsored by Multi Menu, a Bar B Q sponsored by Overwaite , morning coffee sponsored by Freshies and a yard sale where we will sell items in good useable condition, donated from the community. All money raised will go to the Elk Valley P.A.R.T.Y. program to ensure that this invaluable program continues for another year. Our fundraising goal is $10 000 this year, P.A.R.T.Y.?Ç‚Äôs annual operating costs are approximately $12 000.

      On August 16 th we will have volunteers running the yard sale, car wash and dog wash from 8am until 3pm and the Bar B Q will be on from 11am until 2pm. Monetary donations will be accepted on or before August 16th at the ambulance station (1301 6th ave in Fernie). Donations can also be mailed to P.A.R.T.Y program care of Mary Jane Leppard, program coordinator at the address above. Any items donated for the yard sale can be taken to the ambulance station as well. Please direct any questions to Amy Chris, Tanya Rookes or Shirley Larson at the number below. On behalf of the volunteers, the Fernie ambulance crew and the P.A.R.T.Y. program, we thank you for your support.

      We look forward to seeing you on August 16th 2008!
      Sincerely,

      Amy Chris and Shirley Larson, event organizers, paramedics and P.A.R.T.Y. volunteers
