I lived in the interior of BC, weather is basically the same. I did get away with a battery warmer for 2 years on a ’90 Chev Sprint ( I bought it on the coast, so no block heater). I just did not drive around much when it was
-30! :? It does work, but YES a block heater is the best thing.
