Fernie has a Storm Watch advisory for up to 25cms of snow that is forecast to fall on Tuesday.

This 25cms would be on top of the 26cms that fell in the past 24 hours. When the Fernie Factor is calculated, Tuesdays storm could produce over 50cms.

Elk Valley:
Up to 25 cm of snow expected Tuesday.

From the GOC: An approaching moisture-laden warm front will bring heavy snow to the Boundary, West Kootenay and Elk Valley regions on Tuesday. The snow will start falling shortly after midnight and then become heavy at times beginning mid morning. The heavy snowfall will taper off after midnight on Wednesday. This winter storm watch may be upgraded to a warning once greater certainty is achieved regarding snowfall amounts and specific locations impacted.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. If you must travel, keep others informed of your schedule and destination and carry an emergency kit and mobile phone.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.tempetepacifique-pacificstorm.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
