The Fernie Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce “Shop Local Holiday Kickoff” in partnership with The Arts Station. This event will be running all weekend November 27 th – 29 th to ensure everyone is able to maintain social distance and respect business COVID-19 plans while supporting our Fernie Business Community!

As part of this event the Arts Station will be hosting an Artisan Fair with 4 entry sessions on Friday November 27 th at 5 pm & 7pm and Saturday November 28 th at 11am & 2pm. A great opportunity to pick up beautifully hand-crafted items from Fernie artists such as pottery, painting, jewelry and more! Make sure to register via theartsstation.com to guarantee entry, with funds raised going to the local food bank. Local musicians will be playing while you shop, a great chance to hear some live music!

You will also be able to take advantage of extended shopping hours, discounts, feature cocktails and food specials from selected businesses around Fernie.

Why is this so important?

Non-profit LOCO BC commissioned U.S. research firm Civic Economics to complete a study last year into the impact of consumer spending at locally owned businesses. The study found that for every $100 spent with a BC local business, $63 is re-circulated back into the local BC economy – compared to $14 for multinational companies. This means that local businesses re-circulate 4.6 times more revenue in the local economy. By shopping local you are supporting the Fernie economy and the people within your community. We have a wide range of businesses with many unique gift ideas, you are sure to find something special for everyone on your shopping list.

Visit ferniechamber.com for a full list of participating businesses to help you plan your shopping kick off!
