Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo

For all the road riders out there, registration is now open for the 2026 Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo, returning to Cranbrook on Saturday, September 12. For Fernie riders used to narrow shoulders and limited road-riding options, the Cranbrook/Kimberley area Fondo offers a safer experience to enjoy a big day on the road.

Organized by the Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club in cooperation with JCI Kootenay, the event continues to be one of the East Kootenay’s signature cycling experiences, drawing riders for a supported day of road cycling in the Kootenay Rockies.

The Gran Fondo offers cyclists a traffic-controlled ride through scenic regional routes, with rider support, aid stations, mechanical assistance, volunteer support, and post-ride celebrations based at St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino.

The event welcomes cyclists from across British Columbia, Alberta, Montana, and beyond, combining a strong ride experience with community fundraising. Proceeds support important local and regional organizations, including the Kimberley/Cranbrook Hospice Society.

With its mix of mountain scenery, road riding, volunteer energy, and community purpose, the Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo has become a must-ride event for cyclists looking to experience the East Kootenay by bike.

Registration and event information are available at www.krgf.ca.
