Iron Creek Fire

A wildfire has been reported at Iron Creek near Fernie, and the BC Wildfire Service has confirmed that suppression efforts are underway to limit its spread. Initially discovered on June 17, the fire remains small at 0.1 hectares. While it was originally classified as “out of control,” meaning it had potential to expand beyond its boundaries, it has since been updated today as “being held.”

The suspected cause of the fire is lightning, which is common during summer storm activity. As of the latest update on June 19, 2025, no area restrictions or closures have been implemented in relation to this incident.
