Fernie Ghostriders Hockey

Fernie’s Ghostriders Hockey Team earned three of four points this weekend, they lost 3-2 in OT in Creston but won at home 5-2 vs Spokane.

Earlier in the week the Riders acquired 18 year old forward Hudson Scrimshaw in three way deal with Chase and Revelstoke. Hudson scored his first goal in a Rider uniform in his first game and it was the Teddy Bear goal.

Malachai Peigan with a goal and an assist was named as the second star Saturday and Andrew Tworkowski who stopped 64 of 69 Ghostrider shots was the first star.

The Braves only had 14 skaters because of injuries and suspensions. Congratulations to Andrew Kennedy, he is the new Assistant Captain now that Jack Lambert is out of the lineup. Cole Fournier’s 6th of the season Saturday was the game winner. Ben Skarsen was the first star in Creston.

Round’ the League
The Riders picked up 3 points on the weekend but Kimberley won both of their games against Spokane and Creston and the Rockies beat North Oak 4-3 in OT but lost 4-1 to Beaver Valley. What that means is Kimberley is now in first place with 38 points, the Rockies second with 36 and Fernie third with 33, but have two games in hand. Creston is no pushover and are creeping up on the frontrunners with 28 points.

The Ghostriders play in Kimberley this Tuesday night then return home Saturday December 16 to play Golden in the last game before the Christmas break. Add the game to your calendar here.
