Snowshoe Share

Gearhub Sports is proud to sponsor the Snowshoe Share Program, an initiative launched by the Fernie Trails Alliance to help preserve Fernie’s groomed trails and support the dedicated efforts of volunteer groomers. Through this sponsorship, Gearhub has provided free community snowshoes at select trailheads, encouraging responsible trail use during the winter season.

Responsible trail use involves maintaining the groomed surface, the following image best demonstrates when to use the snowshoes.

These snowshoes are available for anyone to borrow, ensuring that visitors and residents can enjoy the trails without causing damage to the groomed surfaces. Post-holing—sinking into the snow and leaving deep holes—undermines the grooming work and creates hazardous conditions for other trail users. By using snowshoes in soft conditions, trail enthusiasts can help protect the trails and maintain their quality for all users.

How It Works:

• Borrow the snowshoes from the designated trailhead locations.

• Enjoy the trails responsibly while preventing damage to the groomed surfaces.

• Return the snowshoes to their designated spot after use.

Gearhub Sports‘ sponsorship ensures that this initiative can continue to support Fernie’s multi-use winter trails. By respecting the trails and the work of volunteer groomers, the community can help maintain high-quality outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy throughout the Winter season!
