A public hearing regarding bylaw amendments to permit new residential development on private property known as the Galloway Lands adjacent to Fernie Alpine Resort has been cancelled.

“We have received notification from the developer that following comments and concerns received from the public and RDEK Board, they are withdrawing the current application,” says RDEK Board Chair Rob Gay. “As a result, the public hearing scheduled for mid-June has been cancelled.”

The public hearing had been scheduled to run over the course of three nights on June 14, 15 and 16.

“We understand that the developer intends to revisit aspects of the current proposal and submit a revised application that will address concerns raised,” adds Gay. The revised application will then proceed through the full bylaw process.

Now that the public hearing has been cancelled and the application withdrawn, no further public comment needs to be submitted on the current proposal.
