This week in Fernie, enjoy arts and culture events and take part in the long weekend activities.
1. Porky Blue – Squeal Like a Pig
The Fernie Trails and Ski Touring Club is hosting their 5th annual bike event this Saturday. The ride is a challenging 30km route, complete with an included dinner and beer garden. Sign up at the Guide’s Hut or online. All proceeds go to the Fernie Trail System.

2. Gallery Shows
The Arts Station is unveiling its new exhibit on Thursday; Photo Finish by the Visual Arts Guild. The Guild is an informal group of artists that meet regularly at the Arts Station in a fun and accepting atmosphere. Inside Out Fernie Wellness is also hosting a meet the artists night for its two exhibits: Crow Quest by Cora Collins and the Collector by Krisztina Wood.

3. Summer Socials
This week, the Wednesday concert series features Go For the Eyes from Calgary. The craft fairs and several vendors will also be running along with the weekly refreshment gardens. For the long weekend, Sunday’s theme is sports day inclusive with demos, children’s activities, sidewalk shopping and more!

4. Mount Broadwood Weed Pull
Help in the effort to rid Fernie and surrounding area of the noxious weeds. This year, the weed pull will take place in the riparian area along both sides of Lodgepole Creek. It begins at 10am with a free BBQ to follow. Carpool options are available.

5. Golfing
The Fernie Golf and Country Club was opened in 1918 and is noted for is spectacular scenery. The playability is key, with terrain for all skill levels. There is a Pro Shop that is staffed by C.P.G.A professionals that are well versed for your every need. Daily, Yearly, Membership and Lesson rates are all available as well as corporate tournament packages.
