The Fernie RV Resort opened 30 new Riverside sites on July 1st with cries of celebration from happy campers! The Riverside guests commented on enjoying the increased pad size, great location and the natural landscaping.

Camping has gained popularity during the pandemic with many families purchasing campers and RVs. Camping is a safe way to travel and have fun with the family and the Fernie RV Resort reacted to the increase in demand.

Shelley Barrington, FRVR General Manager, commented, “We are excited to expand and to continue to accommodate camping needs for Fernie’s guests. It’s through the hard work of our consultants and maintenance staff that we could bring the new Riverside section to fruition and we are most grateful. This will add another great offering to the Resort and we hope you will visit soon.”

The natural landscaping was just planted however the vision is best described by Cindy Boudreau, lead gardener, “imagine a place on the edge of a forest, where clusters of tall evergreens, flowering shade trees and privacy shrubs are sprinkled throughout a meadow filled with natural grasses & wild flowers. A groomed grassy pathway meanders through the meadow, allowing the Riverside guests to go for a walk, access their units and the nearby trails.”

Each site boasts a spacious oval-shaped gravel pad, a family-sized picnic table and firepit, and there’s plenty of room for any sized RV, a tent or table canopy, your adventure gear and a vehicle or two. Full-service hook-ups at each site include water, sewer, electricity (all RV sites have 30 and 50 amp service) and Wi-Fi.

The FRVR opened for business on April 1st 2016 and has enjoyed five successful years of year around operation. Guests have been provided with a modern camping experience with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The Resort is nestled between 750 metres of beautiful Elk River shoreline, the 18-hole Fernie Golf Club, and Fernie’s Maiden Lake. Riverside trails connect the Resort with the Historic Downtown and shopping and dining are minutes away.

The Resort now offers 26 pull-through and 105 back-in RV sites, the majority of which offer 50 amp electric and full sewer hook-up service. Also available are 11 tent sites that host truck campers, camper vans and Class B motorhomes. In 2018 five heated yurts were added to accommodate the growing demand for glamping. Free wi-fi service, family-oriented washroom and shower facilities, and a commercial laundromat is available for guests. With the expansion the Resort will now offer 147 sites. The gardens and grounds are an important aspect of the guest experience.

Guests staying at the Resort can enjoy walking, hiking and biking trails from their site and riverside activities including fishing, floating and paddling. Mountain High Adventures is located at the resort and they offer guided river trips, rentals, and Island Farm ice cream. In the winter season the trails are groomed for multi-use activities.

The Riverside sites offer a new ‘stay experience’ that you won’t want to miss. Book your Fernie adventure online today.
