Pinkbike featured a double edition photo epic by Reuben Krabbe titled “Get Your Pedal On” and “Fernie BC: Big Bikes and Big Decents”. The first photo set took place over the Canada Day Long Weekend and featured images of the Fernie 3 Bike Race and The Roll and Sole Trail Fest. The article shows Fernie’s booming bike culture and emphasizes the extensive trail network around town.

The second set depicted an epic day of riding from the Bike Park to the high alpine decent of the Dirt Diggler. Nick Nault, a local photographer, was an excellent tour guide and created a video clip summary of the photo shoot. All in all, it was concluded that Fernie “continues to deliver the goods”.

Toque & Canoe posted “Chasing Chill in Fernie, BC” on the site’s blog. It featured the two authors and their teenage daughters seeking a weekend of R&R in Fernie. In the end, they found that “Fernie’s small-town charm, unique location and suprising sophistication made for a getaway far beyond what was expected”. Destinations on the trip included local loved businesses such as Spa 901, the Loaf Bakery & Restaurant, Yamagoya, Essential Yoga Studio and Wild Nature Tours. The article follows two other installments over the past year including “Emma’s Fernie” an interview with an Irish-born Fernie local and “Winter Awesomeness” highlighting Fernie’s reputation as a winter playground.
