Are you having a challenge getting your kids off their electronic devices and outside to play? If so, may I suggest geocaching—a healthy blend of electronics with outdoor play!

Geocaching is an outdoor treasure hunt that is staged on a walking or hiking trail and utilizes GPS devices or smartphones. For my family, geocaching is an all inclusive adventure that takes us to new places. Most of Fernie’s valley and mountain trails have geocaches. My kids prefer the larger geocaches where they can trade trinkets or toys.

Our choice of electronics is the iphone with the Geocache downloadable app. All of Fernie’s geocaches can be found on their site and the downloadable app is free and ensures the reward is attainable. http://www.geocaching.com/
