The business community came together in full force last night to celebrate Rooted Resilience for the 2025 Fernie Business Excellence Awards, held at Cirque Restaurant and Bar. The sold-out event celebrated the exceptional businesses, organizations, and individuals that drive Fernie’s economy and enrich community life.
Hosted by local favourite Mike Wrigglesworth, the evening struck the perfect balance of humour and heart, with opening remarks from Mayor Nic Milligan and Fernie Chamber Chair Antony McElwee. Guests enjoyed a festive evening recognizing this year’s outstanding award recipients—each representing the best of Fernie’s entrepreneurial spirit.
The theme, “Rooted Resilience: Growing Stronger Together,” reflected the town’s deep sense of connection and its ability to grow through collaboration and change. From long-standing local businesses to emerging entrepreneurs, the awards showcased the innovation, perseverance, and passion that continue to make Fernie thrive.
Executive Director Wendy McDougall summed up the spirit of the night:
“The Business Excellence Awards are always a highlight of my year. It’s a chance to shine a light on the incredible people and businesses who quietly make Fernie such a special place. Each winner demonstrates passion, innovation, and resilience—qualities that inspire everyone in our community. The event is about more than awards; it’s about celebrating the heart and spirit of Fernie and reminding ourselves how much we can achieve when we grow stronger together.”
