There’s been a whole lot of local buzz surrounding Fernie’s upcoming new seasonal release, following the success and popularity of their recent Project 9 Pilsner, which launched earlier this year, aptly named after one of Fernie’s most popular bike trails.

So keeping with their small-town, bike-paradise roots, Fernie Brewing Co.’s upcoming new brew is named Kickstand Honey Kolsch. Less climbing, more cruising, but equally as refreshing and seasonally appropriate.

“An easy drinking Honey Kolsch, made using local organic honey and its own distinctive yeast, this new FBC brew is set to be a perfect addition to our summer lineup,” says Brewmaster Gord Demaniuk. Coming in at 25 IBU and 4.8% alc./vol., it pairs well with summer salads, cheese selections and spicy foods. Refreshing, made with a little help from the bees.

As a result, there’s an eager Fernie following waiting for its release. Its local release date is set for this coming Friday June 13th and to celebrate, FBC are running a competition with local bike shop Straightline Bicycle and Ski, for the chance to win an Electra Townie! The comp kicks off this Friday, with entry boxes available at Straightline, select Fernie Liquor Stores and Fernie Brewing Co.

FBC will too be raising a glass in store and will be handing out free samples of Kickstand in their tasting room this coming Friday 9AM-6PM and Saturday 11AM-5PM. So pop by to try, buy a Growler or 650ml bottle of the good stuff and enter to win some new wheels. Straightline will also be giving out free FBC Growlers to all townie purchasers in coming weeks. It’s a win-win all round town.

Kickstand’s launch further afield will be late June – early July, available throughout BC and Alberta for its first year, in time for full swinging summer patio season. Fernie Brewing Co. has been channeling their creative energies into both new recipes and new packaging design of late. Working with Also Known As out of Vancouver, you can expect to see an entire line up of new labels and cans over the next few months. Kickstand Honey Kolsch is the first to hit town wearing the brand new look…

Using block colours and pencil drawn illustrations, you can expect Fernie’s new 650mls and cans to be beautifully creative, with thirst-quenching contrasting colours, bold and eye catching. More products to come, some new, some simply re-dressed.
