Fernie Arts Station

The Fernie Arts Station is inviting artists to submit artwork for a unique outdoor exhibit that will be displayed at Fernie Alpine Resort during the winter season. This exciting opportunity allows artists from the Kootenays to showcase their creativity and innovation in a public space, surrounded by Fernie’s stunning alpine backdrop. The deadline for submissions is November 4th, 2024.

In keeping with the theme of pushing creative boundaries, artists are encouraged to think “Out of the Box” by choosing unconventional materials that can withstand winter weather. Suggested substrates include snowboards, skis, upcycled signs, and skateboards. Only one large piece may be submitted per artist, and all works will be reviewed by adjudicators for compliance with the exhibit’s guidelines.

There is no specific theme for the exhibit, but all submissions must be family-friendly and non-violent. Artists are also asked to ensure cultural sensitivity, especially when incorporating forms or symbols from communities outside their own.
