As the snowline recedes and the alpine terrain transitions into summer mode, Fernie Alpine Resort is preparing to welcome guests for another season of warm-weather mountain adventure. Summer operations officially kick off on June 21, with the Elk Chairlift spinning daily. The Timber Chairlift will follow with weekend service beginning June 28–29, continuing every Saturday and Sunday throughout the season—except during B.C. Cup weekend.
What’s New for Summer 2025 includes the following:
Expanded Timber Chairlift Access
Responding to growing demand, Fernie Alpine Resort will now operate the Timber Chair on both Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer, an upgrade from its previous Saturday-only schedule.
Elk Chair Adds Tuesday Evening Service
The Elk Chair will now offer evening rides on Tuesdays, in addition to the existing Thursday evening schedule, giving guests more midweek access to the alpine.
Upgrades to Elk Grove Forest Playground
Following last year’s successful debut of the Elk Grove Playground, new play features will be added this summer to enhance the popular ground-level adventure zone for families.
New Trails for Biking and Hiking
Trail expansions continue with the addition of one new downhill bike flow trail, replacing the former “Eville” trail, as well as two new hiking trails on the Timber side of the resort.
New Event: Steep & Deep Race
A new bike event on the summer calendar is the Steep & Deep XC race, taking place September 12–13. Hosted by Anything Goes Events, this downcountry mountain biking race will challenge riders with a 35-kilometre course featuring four unique timed stages. The event will be part of a full weekend of racing and festivities at the resort.
Mountain Adventure School Returns
The resort’s Mountain Adventure School returns for 2025 with a full lineup of favourites, including:

• Kids Freeride Bike Camps
• Adult Downhill Clinics
• Specialty Guided Hikes
Season Passes on Sale
