Fernie Air Cadet

Fernie Air Cadet Ember Hill has been appointed Warrant Officer First Class for the Technology and Digital Learning Centre for the summer of 2026.

Hill, a member of the 279 Elk Valley Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, currently holds the rank of Warrant Officer Second Class and will serve in the senior Warrant Officer First Class position during the summer training program.

In the role, Hill will lead nearly two dozen staff cadets and ensure they have the knowledge, resources and support needed to teach their courses and lead junior cadets attending the centre.

Hill is a Level 5 cadet and has held several leadership positions with the Elk Valley squadron, including deputy parade commander, cadet correspondent and administration warrant officer.

She recently graduated from Fernie Secondary School and plans to study Theatre Production at MacEwan University during the coming school year. Hill hopes the summer appointment will provide leadership experience and practical skills that will support her university studies.

The Canadian Cadet Program is open to youth between the ages of 12 and 18. The program promotes leadership, physical fitness and healthy living while helping cadets build friendships, participate in their communities and learn about activities connected to the Canadian Armed Forces.

More information about joining the Cadet Program is available at canada.ca/join-cadets.
