Curious children and adults of all ages can come out to answer these questions and more at the Fernie Science Odyssey. The event is at the Community EcoGarden and Wildsight is hosting the free for all-ages events in celebration of science. See details here.
“This is an opportunity for our community to come out and engage with some amazing scientists and coders in the Elk Valley,” explains Wildsight’s Dawn Deydey.
Events include science fun for all ages from exploring the world of bugs and learning garden science, to coding micro-bit technology and better understanding biodiversity. Local educators, scientists, and computer programmers are running the events, sharing their expertise and love for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Led by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Fernie’s Science Odyssey is part of Canada’s largest annual celebration of STEM. Every year in May, hundreds of science leaders from coast to coast deliver fun, engaging and inspiring activities to Canadians of all ages.
“It’s exciting for Fernie to be part of the nation-wide celebration,“ Deydey says. “Science comes to life when we bring it outside of the classroom. This event will encourage people of all ages to explore and engage with the science that helps the Community EcoGarden to grow and more.”
The Elk River Alliance and the Fernie Heritage Library will be joining in on the fun. To learn more, go to wildsight.ca/sciod.
