Park Place Lodge

Join us for an evening of glitz and glamour at this Gatsby themed soiree! On Saturday June 18th, the Friends of the Fernie Heritage Library and The Arts Station come together to present our semi-annual fundraising event.

The Arts and Letters Gatsby Gala 2011, created to raise valuable financial support for the enrichment of our community and children’s programming. The 2009 Arts and Letters Orient Express Gala provided subsidies to The Arts Station to improve access to community arts education and allow for the creation of a successful children’s theatre group: ‘Freckles Theatre.’ The Fernie Heritage Library was able to expand senior programming, which included a new weekly reading and film group at Rocky Mountain Village and also increased the frequency of outreach workshops and literary opportunities for local schools. Following the successful format of our 2009 Gala, this year’s fundraiser will again be a moveable feast. The Gatsby Gala will be a glamorous event bringing together 100 library boosters and patrons of the arts. Set in the late 1920s and early 1930s, our guests will enjoy an evening of sophistication loosely themed on the Great Gatsby era. This event offers a unique opportunity for our community to celebrate and support these valuable community organizations. The programming and services by the Library and Arts Station are integral to the social fabric of Fernie and the surrounding areas. Contact Gail Adams for more information at 250-423-7122. Tickets are $100/per person.

Arts and Letters 2011 Donations

The Arts and Letters team is on the go to raise funds to enhance and sustain the arts and cultural programs for children and seniors in our community. To make this the event of the year, we are asking our wonderful artists to help by donating a work of art for auction. We believe that the displayed art will showcase and raise the profile of your art to a select group of people attending the event. Without your creative energies and generosity, these events would not be nearly so successful in raising the funds for the community programming both the Library and Arts Station strive to offer. If you so wish to donate and support this event, we have outlined some criteria to ensure the proper care is taken in displaying and setting up the auction:
• Artistic pieces should be properly framed and presented with all hanging or mounting hardware affixed.
• Artistic pieces should be labeled with a brief description of the medium, size, year and any other relevant information. Please affix this to the back or bottom of the piece.
• Complete the donation form (available at The Arts Station) to be submitted with your donation.
• Artwork will be generously accepted until Wednesday, June 8th. (We will be printing all the information in a catalogue and need a wee bit of time to compile this, hence the deadline)
• Artwork can be dropped off at the Arts Station between 10am-4pm on weekdays prior.
• All artwork will have minimum bid price of $50.00. Please keep this in mind when choosing the art piece.

If you have any questions, please, contact Kerri Holmes at 250-423-7329 or at kerri.holmes44@gmail.com. Thank you again for your support and consideration. If you are able to participate, please pop into the Arts Station and talk to Courtney or call 250-423-4842.
