Canadian artist Sarah Moffat’s art collection of 12 pieces in varying size, colour and price is now on sale at Inside Out Fernie Wellness at 571 B 2nd Avenue, Fernie from April 21st to May 17th. There will be a reception hosted by the artist’s sister and Fernie local, Christa Moffat Saturday May 3rd from 5pm to 8pm with refreshments and special pricing on the art for one night only.
“Although I have been an artist all my life, I feel like I am at a very exploratory stage of my career, and I hope that never changes”. In over 15 years of tenure in the specialty wall finishes business, Sarah Moffat acquired an indispensable knowledge of colour and visual integrity to bring with her as she turns her attention to working on a smaller, more portable scale.
Remembering her days at Toronto’s Ontario College of Art and Design in the mid-eighties, she has again immersed herself in unconditional expression through a wide variety of techniques and subject matter. This non-conforming attitude infuses her work with a fresh and often child-like freedom flitting from glimpses of the natural world to pure abstract, solidifying colour and form into a highly visual and tactile experience. Even when using traditional materials and subject matter, Moffat will often incorporate metallic foils and textures creating a truly unique depth and interpretation with each new piece.
Sarah is represented by five shops/galleries in Canada including galleries in Whistler, Invermere and Nelson and The Urban Settler in Fernie, B.C. She also sells her work from her art studio in Almonte, Ontario. For further information on the artist and her work, please visit www.sarahmoffat.com
