Park Place Lodge

Fernie Alpine Resort is opening for the season this Saturday, December 2nd, and Fernie locals are excited, some more than others.

Greg Barrow, owner of the Edge Of The World, has ridden Fernie’s first chair of the season for 10 consecutive years. It’s not a privilege, Greg has to work for it. Each year he sleeps overnight at the base of the opening chair to ensure his seat. He’ll be there again, the question is, who else?

Grace Brulotte and ski partner Scott Courtemanche will most likely be in a pole position again this year. Grace, a disabled skier, became the first female tandem sit skier to heli-ski in Canada. Watch for the upcoming film about Grace and Scott meeting goals that society deemed impossible.

Will Greg and Grace have Saturday’s first chair?
