Fernie Ghostriders

The Fernie Ghostriders are gearing up for an action-packed 2025/26 hockey season, and fans can expect plenty to cheer about both on and off the ice. With two exhibition games set for early September and a much-anticipated home opener, plus major organizational news, this season marks a new chapter for Fernie’s hometown team.

The Ghostriders’ pre-season begins next week:

• Wednesday, September 10 – Exhibition Game vs. Golden Rockets

• Saturday, September 13 – Exhibition Game vs. Columbia Valley Rockies

• Friday, September 19 – Regular Season Opener vs. Creston Valley Thundercats

These early contests will give fans a first look at the team’s new talent and set the tone for what promises to be a thrilling season of KIJHL action.

In a landmark development, the Fernie Ghostriders have been selected to compete in the Tier 1, Junior A Division of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) starting in the 2026-2027 season. This advancement represents a major step forward for both the team and the league, solidifying Fernie’s reputation as a powerhouse in junior hockey.

After 13 years of dedicated leadership, Barb Anderson stepped down as Team President in May 2025. Mike Casault, previously the team’s Vice President, has stepped into the role and is eager to guide the Ghostriders into this new era.

The Ghostriders have bolstered their lineup with fresh talent, including Andrew Morris, Easton Zenko, Garrett Buchanan, Ethan Buhler, and Ben Henshall. These players are expected to bring new energy, skill, and depth to the team as they take on the upcoming season.
