Excitement is in the air at Fernie Alpine Resort as they gear up for Opening Day on Saturday, June 22nd. The trail crew of seven team members has been hard at work since mid-May, inspecting the trails as the snow receded up the mountain. With the trails now mostly snow-free, the crew has been making great progress.
The FAR trail crew is thrilled to announce the unveiling of a new trail, “Leave Me A Loam,” a fresh hand-built line in the forest branching off Lower Rumplestumpskin.
Their pre-season trail work plans include several projects, such as creating new entrances to Alternate Flight Pattern and Duff Dynasty, as well as machine work rebuilds on Top Gun. They’re also putting the finishing touches on the Lower Rumple flow section that connects to CBD.
This week, the crew will be heading up the Timber Side to start their trail inspections and trail work. They’re eagerly anticipating the return of the Timber Chair to summer operations, which will be open for biking, hiking, and sightseeing on Saturdays starting July 13th, along with select Holiday Weekend Sundays.
On the other side of town, the Fernie Trails Alliance posted that this week’s trail feature is the new Y’eddy. With a fresh rebuild of berms and jumps, the trail is rippin’!
Fernie has never been so fun to ride! Happy trails!
