Fernie’s trails conditions are in prime form, perfect for biking and hiking!
The trails are all open and dry except for a couple of high elevation adventurous trails–notably Big Money, Porky Blue and Dirt Diggler/Al Matador.
Mt Proctor Trails have been riding well for weeks; Swine, Far Side, Mad Cow and Fairy Creek trails. Park at the Fernie Chamber and ride the connection trail.
Ridgemont and Castle Mountain trails have been dry and riding well for a couple of weeks. Sidewinder has a new supercharged berm making the trail very fun to descend. Roots Hyper-extension is dry and rockin! What’s up Doc is being rebuilt to flow and entertain.
Park side is also quite dry and riding well with most of the fallen trees removed. Slunt is riding well for early season with a little mud and snow near the top and a couple of large trees down. You can expect snow in the avalanche gully’s on Moccasasin, pushing up Lactic Ridge is an option. Lower Lazy Lizard, Stove, Mushroom Head and Red Sonya are worth checking out. Everything else is good, expect a few patches of snow and they should be gone soon.
Recommended Ride
My favorite spring ride is a double loop on Mt Proctor. Climb Swine Flu and descend Far Side, followed by a second climb up Mad Cow to Swine Flu and descend Swine Flu. Both Far Side and Swine offer a fast and flowy ride with a smooth mix of tight lines, roots and new-school berms with g-force! Get out and enjoy!
