New works by local artist, Aiden Lindsay.
Lindsay grew up in Winnipeg, MB and spent her summers exploring the lakes and forests of the Whiteshell. Her adventures there fostered a love for exploration, eventually leading her to travel to various places around the world. Her love of exploration also brought her to her home in Fernie where she currently resides. Throughout her journey, she not only experienced the beauty of her surroundings, but really began expressing her love of nature through art. Experimenting with technique, mediums, and styles, Aidan’s work is a reflection of the creativity of her surroundings. Working with brushes, fingers, or anything that might put paint on canvas, Aidan’s paintings express the fluid, and sometimes messy, nature of life. Self-taught and working mainly with acrylic on canvas, Aidan allows the paint and canvas to control the ultimate outcome of her paintings. Her art is strongly influenced by the forests that surround her, as she aims to express the bold, strong lines of nature, while maintaining a sense of abstract and unknown. She plays with texture through various mediums, trying to emulate the organic movement of her life and surroundings.
The opening is on Thursday, June 26th, with refreshments starting at 7pm. The exhibit runs until July 28th.
