This event takes place during Local Government Awareness Week (May 11th – 17th, 2025), an ongoing initiative supporting the Union of BC Municipalities goal of generating awareness and educating the public about the roles and responsibilities of local government, and encouraging public participation in local government processes.

The 2025 Local Government Awareness Week theme is Infrastructure, which is a significant part of local government service delivery but is often underappreciated or overlooked by the public. This year’s theme invites local governments to tell the infrastructure story of their community or region, and the steps that are being taken to ensure sustainable service delivery.
