Last year a FireSmart Demonstration Forest was created at the Fernie Cemetery and the final stage in that process was to have some interpretive signs made to promote FireSmart as well as explain actions that should be taken by Fernie Residents around their own homes. Many residents from FireSmart neighbourhoods were on site as volunteers, August 25 2018, when most of the work was done.

The signs were installed in July and we will be unveiled starting at 11am at the gates to the cemetery on St Margarets Road. Following that, there will be a quick tour through the various demonstration areas and finishing with a BBQ.

Invited are all FireSmart Community Champions, FireSmart Board members and residents of your neighbourhoods to attend this unveiling and BBQ as a thank you for all the efforts your communities have invested in the FireSmart program.
