Fernie Virtual Canada Day Celebration
Loading Map....

This year Fernie is celebrating “Canada Day from Home”.

This is going to look a little different from previous years with creative activities being offered.

Events include a home/business decorating contest, online craft sessions with free craft kits available, an online Great Fernie Bake Off, a mobile celebration parading around town to capture how Fernie shows up to celebrate Canada Day amidst COVID-19, and a live stream concert.

The live stream concert will kick off with a virtual community singing of ‘O Canada’ lead by Hark Raving
Sirens and will be followed by performances by Red Girl, Wild Honey, The Runs and Shred Kelly.

Redgirl is a light shade of bluegrass with some visible folk roots showing. Fronted by the clear and
fearless vocals of Anie Radish, Redgirl’s music is built around her pure and unfettered voice, clawhammer banjo, guitar and a ukulele.

Wild Honey is a female trio of singer-songwriters from the East Kootenays playing roots music with a sound all their own.

The Runs are Fernie’s favourite punk rock band, back to melt your faces off and be the catalyst of an awesome living room mosh and dance party.

Shred Kelly is a five-piece, alternative folk-rock band that emerged from Fernie in 2009. Over the past decade the band have taken their highly energetic live show from humble beginnings on the Canadian ski-town circuit to the international stage.

The virtual concert kicks off at 7pm on Wednesday 1 July. There will be prizes up for grabs for best dressed and best dance moves.
