Get ready to ride this summer as the FAR Downhill Development Series returns—now with a fresh twist. What was once a Wednesday night staple has moved to Tuesday evenings, taking advantage of extended lift hours on the Elk Chair. Running from June 24 to August 26, this fun-focused series invites riders of all ages and skill levels to build confidence, improve times, and enjoy the vibrant Fernie bike community.
This isn’t your typical race series—there are no podiums and no pressure, just timed runs on flowy beginner to intermediate trails, post-race beverages at Legends Mountain Eatery, and a chance to win great weekly prizes and themed-night rewards. Every race entered counts as a ballot toward the grand prize draw at the series finale.
What to Expect:
• New race night: Tuesdays, from June 24 to August 26
(No race on July 8 during Canada Cup/BC Cup prep)
• Timed single-lap runs on a different trail each week (each course runs twice in the series)
• $8 entry fee includes a timed run and a post-race beverage
• Lift ticket or season pass required
• Check-in by 5:45 PM, racing starts at 6:30 PM with staggered intervals
• Online registration only: Opens one week prior to each race and closes at 5:30 PM on race day
• Race categories for Kids (8–12), Youth (13–17), Adult (18–39), and Masters (40+)
Whether you’re new to racing or looking to chase personal progression goals, this is your chance to hit the trails, meet other riders, and celebrate every run with a cold drink and a good time.
