The East Kootenay FireSmart Program invites you to join us for our second annual Ember Stomp in Jaffray, a Wildfire Community Preparedness Event.

Learn how to make your home and community more resilient to wildfire, check out wildland firefighting apparatus, educational presentations, a live fire demonstration from the Elk Valley and South Country Rural Fire & Rescue Service, and games for the kids. Meet Ember the FireSmart Fox and connect with local services that can help increase your knowledge and wildfire resiliency.

The participating partners for the day include: FireSmart BC, Elk Valley and South Country Rural Fire & Rescue Service, BC Wildfire Service – Initial Attack and Cultural and Prescribed Fire, BC Parks, Living Lakes Canada, East Kootenay Invasive Species Council, the BC Ministry of Forests – Wildfire Risk Reduction and Range, Western Painted Turtle Recovery Team, Canfor Elko, Fernie Home Hardware Building Centre, Casey’s Flashing and Roofing, C.L.E.A.R. Society, Kootenay Landscaping, GFL, Fernie Garden Centre, and the Kootenay Livestock Association.
