The power lines are your best bet. Go out to the back roads (try Hosmer main) and follow a power line. They will be nicer because they get a bit more sun and after a certain height they are cut down anyways so you will be doing the forestry a favor.
supermomParticipantI wasn’t implying that a Fernie vet should compete with US prices. I WAS implying that our last vet in Fernie was unaffordable.
I go to the US for surgeries and specialties that Canada cannot do. Kalispell is closer than Edmonton for me!supermomParticipantI’d love to add to this post.
For all of my animals larger procedures (neuter, spay, cherry eye, dental etc) I travel to Kalispell to have my animals cared for. It would be a blessing to have a great local vet. We once had an awesome vet in town (Dr. Janisz sp?) but he was killed while on duty.
What we need is a compassionate veterinarian. One not afraid of dogs. One not going to charge you a whole paycheque for standard procedures. If this is you then you will do very well in Fernie. It could be a slow start as many people have formed great relationships with out of town vets, but as stated previously, there are NO vets in the elk valley. We have a WONDERFUL traveling holistic veterinarian who is here every two weeks, but traveling vets cannot do surgeries. You would definitely be a welcome addition to this community!supermomParticipantCotton Tree Quilt shop

When the creek gets moving very fast it does upset the system but is not harmful. When the new upgrade is complete we shouldn’t see any more turbidity. Hope this helps. The only reason I know it is because we just took the girl guides on a trip to the water shed and Dave Cockwell gave us a tour of the "plant" and answered all of our questions. Great field trip!

You are on the right track with switching up the food, but how long did you keep him/her on each diet before you decided to switch? It takes a while to clear out the system, but first, what is it he is allergic to? You can get this dog tested for what specifically it is allergic to and then you should be good to go.
supermomParticipantCan you post a picture?
supermomParticipantIs this tracked or on wheels?
supermomParticipantThere’s also the quilt shop.
supermomParticipantThis is number two. This guy has been released to Cranbrook.
The first guy is gone as of yesterday morning. He had three fliers with his picture on it under his windshield and is gone. His vehicle hasn’t been seen since he checked out yesterday.supermomParticipantWe just did a breeding of two purebreds, but not sure if it took. I can let you know in a few weeks.
supermomParticipantUnfortunately this is a very common scam that takes place wherever classifieds are found. You don’t need to be a member of anything to reply to email and ask for information. Generally the English is very bad and they use "rich" sounding names. It is typically called the Western Union scam. It has been going for years.
The safest way for online transactions is to use paypal and on line banking. You then have proof of payment if anything should happen. Also, paypal will back you if anything goes wrong. When in doubt, Don’t.supermomParticipantI must live in a different part of west fernie. I have only noticed one or two dogs roaming in my neighbourhood. I know that my 13 year old poodle is not going to hurt anyone by being off leash and my other dogs are fenced in with the exception of a 12 year old border collie who is our houdini and manages to escape regularly. I agree that there must be a roaming dog problem because I keep hearing about it, but I have yet to see it.
As for the mean black dog, I would suggest you talk to its owner and let them know you don’t feel safe with it wandering. Definately give the police a call if you need to, that is just not right. Perhaps these owners will learn a very sad lesson when their pets get killed by a car when wandering toward the highway.supermomParticipantWhile on that subject…
