i say no to flathead park and mines!!! both ideas are rediculous. dont waste the money.
emjayParticipantI think its not only the rich and powerfull resisting the flathead mine and parks. The rest of us working class people love the area for what it is. I dont know if youve noticed anti flathead parks and mine stickers, and besides how many poor people do you think would actually be able to work there due to various circumstances. The unfortunate part is that most of the poor are usually unskilled in the areas needed. I dont know too much about the mine proposal but it seems like the americans are putting up the fight, so how far would it be away from thier border? Really the bottom line is we cant always take everything for its resources, no matter how much money will be made because i know it wont be me making the millions off of the mine or any of the poor or average joe in the area.
emjayParticipantIf it wasnt china buying us we’d be selling to someone else. I also wonder about the dirty oil …sure its not he best way to produce it ,but on the other hand…Are we just going to pull all of this green energy out of a hat and have all of these green jobs out of no where? *Bottom line is it all takes money, no matter how we look at it. If the oil sands were shut down where do all those people work after that? How will we get enough money from taxes to build wind turbines and hydro dams and what ever else to support our needs for energy, after masses loose jobs?, not that lots havent lost jobs as it is. If we can’t sell it were pretty well screwed, because the only one really close enough to supply to would be the states, and thier money is just printed money now with nothing to back it up. I guesse what im getting at is the fact that yes oil sands are bad but where will those people work if it goes under?

emjayParticipantIndeed unions can be a good thing, but lately ive come to think that they need to be broken or at least take a step back. For example: does anybody know how much auto workers were geting paid ? And now im supposed to feel sorry for them..not likely.
Im a tradesman in the valley here and i am not union. The fact that im not union doesnt mean that i dont get really good pay or benefits. In fact I get better pay than some guys who have 5-10 years over me , and its because my work ethic is better than thieres. Im sure unions can be a good thing but not when they back up lazy spineless whiners. Maby there would be more production and no need for us contractors. At the same time im not saying all the workers are bad at all, i know alot of them that are great contributers to thier employers. As for the EI and welfare cruisers, It really does bother me that so many of them are waiting till the last minuite to find a job. Ei only lasts so long, this being said Ei should really be a last resort and soo many people are just jumping on the EI train to hopefully ride out this dryspell. Myself personally i would work 2 crappy jobs if i had to , to avoid Ei as long as i could. With all of this train riding going on it make me kind of worried for the time if i cant find any work at all weather it be my trade or what ever else i can do or even 2 crappy jobs . Will all of the money ive been contributing from my pay take weeks or months to get to me because of an overflow of easyriders?
emjayParticipantThats kind of like fraud no?
