Hello everyone,
I’m considering coming to Fernie this season (i.e next week) and was wondering what the job situation is like in the town. I know there are seasonal jobs with the mountain but are there many service related jobs (server/barman/barista) in the town itself? I cant seem to get an indication of how big a town Fernie is and whether i have a chance of landing a job once i arrive.
Appreciate your help,
James

if you are here next week you Shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a job. The hill is usually looking for people still. Bar work is hard to find b/c everyone wants it but you might be able to find something as a dish washer or similar.
If you don’t have a place to stay start looking now. Housing is harder to find than work.

Elk valley job seekers is a good place to start looking. Also, they are saying there is a worker shortage this year…. so there are more jobs than there are people. This probably has to do with the housing shortage. But it’s easy to find wokr in town if you’re not picky and only willing to work in a certain position.

Thanks for the info guys, its good to know.
I’ve been in Whistler for a month trying to find a place for the season. Seems like Fernie has the same problem.
I really should have come earlier ><
