I coming from Feb. 19-26. Being my first time, I was hoping for epic snow. It looks like I may be out of luck. Unfortunately I am locked in.

Are there any other things I can do in the winter? I need a backup plan other than just drinking. If the hill is in the same shape I think it’s in now I would probably rather go horseback riding or flyfishing. Do any outfits offer these in the winter?

      Thanks!

As far as the flyfishing goes…….no, trout fishing is closed….you’re not even suppose to target them. But this is the season for whitefish. You’re allowed 15. Although i can’t see the fishing being good for at least a month with all the rain we just had. Oh ya, and don’t fish bellow the ski hill because they were just shooting raw sewage into the river. So was the city of Fernie……ewww…

      Sewage…sounds great.

Any place that is possible to drive to ski that might have decent conditions?

I had an epic pow day at Golden’s “Kicking Horse” on Friday, it was raining in town but because of the high alpine elevation in the bowls , they got wet snow. But…. Golden is forcasting more rain over the next few days with temps of plus 6. I cant see the high alpine not getting hit with some rain. It will be something to watch closely.
Sunshine Village also has some terrain at the same elev. 7000′-8000′. they got wet snow instead of rain too and they are not forecasted to get any more rain in this system! so they could come out of this with the best conditions.
Both are about 4-5 hrs drive north from Fernie
