House swap for Ashburton New Zealand. We live in the South Island about an hour south of Christchurch. A town of about 20,000 people. We snow ski principally at Mt Hutt and want to come and stay in fernie for a month (roughly) in March 2010 or 2011. We have heard from a friend how great the people are in Fernie and so nice and friendly. Also has great skiing which we are into. We don’t get many powder days but enjoy those days ammensly when they do come!
We live on the outskirts of town (Ashburton) on a 3 acre property with 10 sheep, a dog and cat. We also have a batch (crib) (hut) at the Rangitata fishing mouth – 30 minutes away. We catch salmon there and it is such a neat place and so quite and friendly to. The batch would be available for part of the time you would be here. It just saves 30 minutes travel to stay at the river mouth.
Christchurch is central to the South Island and this is the best Island to visit as the north Island is busy and much more populated. We would have a vehicle available for your use as part of the swap.
My wife and youngest kid (11) would form the three to come over to Fernie.
