There won’t ever be any mining in the Flathead, however selling fear to US foundations is a $1M / yr business so we need not taint a good story with facts.
Rick Hauer of MT claims forestry is a danger. Is he aware of what the Flathead looked like after it was clearcut in the late 70’s during the last pine beetle epidemic?
Literally 100’s of roads built in the area back then have gone back to nature thanks to the efforts of true conservationists, the Rod & Gun clubs and the timber companies.
The East Flathead represents a sizable chunk of Tembec’s future, without that timber the Elko mill is not viable.
