QUote:
What has NAFTA and Free Trade got Canada? When you think about it, it’s a dismal list:
Softwood lumber duties. American contempt for the trade dispute
mechanism. Mass layoffs of Canadian softwood lumber workers.Two-year ban on Canadian beef imports into USA, crippling our beef ranchers.
Plant closings, often after receiving millions of Canadian tax dollar subsidies.
Loss of higher-paying manufacturing jobs
Low-paying, part-time retail./service sector jobs
Cutbacks to Canadian food and drug inspections
“Harmonization” to US, not Canadian standards
Fortress North America. A climate of fear
Erosion of our civil liberties
Canadian social programs, which help define Canada, under attack
Unrestricted takeovers of Candian businesses–even the Hudson’s Bay Co. What will be next?
Forced export of our Canadian oil and gas to the United States, while our heating costs and transportation costs soar. Scandalous!
Loss of personal privacy. Credit card personal data sent to USA.
Loss of respect for Canada in the world community. Canada seen as a US client state.
Loss of a truly independent Canadian military and foreign policy
American Ambassadors to Canada who feel free to meddle in our affairs.AND NOW THE FINAL OUTRAGE: Our own Census of Canada contracted out in part to a subsidiary of US weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin. Once the (bad) decision is made to contract out the Census, the Free Trade agreement forces the Canadian Government to accept bids from US and US-owned companies. In trying to save a few dollars by outsourcing part of the Census, Statistics Canada has facilitated the disgraceful spectacle of a US-owned Lockheed Martin subsidiary being involved with the May 2006 Canada Census. But fortunately, ordinary Canadians can do something about it, through minimum cooperation with the Census. If we all do a little, the Census will feel it a lot.

Don’t do your census till finding out where that info can go. “Cuz its the LAW. “
Trust and government in a sentence: “I trust the government will try to make money off me at tax time.”
How many years could I get for filling the form out upside down and backwards with abunch of politicians names and aragantly displaying it on my wall for a year?
Heres some links: Welcome to the freedom of information age .
“Cooperat and we’ll gaurantee you a 50% discount on your next ballistic Missile purchase. ” He he too funny

“Statistics Canada initially told us Lockheed-Martin would have no access to Canadians’ private information,” says Susan Thompson, founder and site editor. “But Greg Peterson, StatCan’s Communications Manager, later said they’ve changed the contract so that Lockheed-Martin won’t have access to our information. It makes me wonder if they were being honest in the first place.”
Let yer sences be yer guide. Censor censhorship and help me finish this sentence.
I trust that my governemnt, and their census…… hehe -

Well, I did my duty as a proud Canadian and filled out the 2006 Census form to the letter. Only now I realize I have been duped by the country of my birth.
This outsourcing of private information collection to another country, especially the US who has no one’s interests in their agenda than their own, has got to be illegal.
I just can’t believe it!
I have seen the bully tactics used on my neighbour who wasn’t interested in filling out the form. They come to the door and tell you that you have broken the law by not providing the requested info.
Exactly whose laws are these?
This remiinds me of the way my people were treated by the Government of Canada after we came here trying to escape Stalin and his butchers bills in Russia. We would not swear fealty and fight for any government that decides to go to war. so they took our lands, our homesteads and our freedom. This is how a people become branded “Terrorists”. The US may be right about Canada becoming a breeding ground for “terror”. Any people who decide that their country is betraying them have the right to overthrow that governing body. We have seen this happen all over the world lately. Take the Ukraine for an example.
Now I’m not saying that we have a voice right now, far from it. Stephen Harper may be a good guy for all I know, but Stats Can is a lap dog organization with a US company holding the leash.
Who knows, maybe I’ll be taken off to jail for speaking my mind about all this. But speaking my mind is my right as a Canadian Citizen.
We should not be made to be afraid of our own people.
I feel mistrustful and outraged about this and all these other government scandals with politicians spending our money like they give away our freedom.
With absoltuely zero regard or respect.
I thank you “Canatdien”, for having the guts to let those of us who care in on the important info that the CBC does not. -
