Hey,
I’m looking for a new cell phone and I need one that will work in Elkford, I currently have Telus which works fine, I know Rogers sucks out there. Does anyone know if Bell or Virgin Mobile work good out there?
I think Bell/Telus/Virgin all use the same towers, but I’d like someone with a virgin phone to confirm it for me.Thanks.

you are correct. Solo, Virgin, Telus, Bell, Chatr and Koodo all use the same towers and have the same reception in Elkford. Worry more about the quality of phone you choose!

Rogers surprised me last week with good reception in South Country.
Perhaps they will begin servicing the 10% of us who choose to live in rural Canada.
I went with Rogers to get an iphone, they no longer have exclusivity.
Who is the best overall Elk Valley reception and customer service?

well Savage I think that you will get a thousand different opinions on the service question, but as for towers there are only two services available. Rogers GSM service and Bell/Telus with there cdma hspa service. Bell and Telus share there towers. http://www.telusmobility.com/en/AB/cdma … maps.shtml and http://www.rogers.com/web/content/wirel … _-coverage You will see Telus and Bell have fuller coverage in southern Alberta and BC. Experience has told me the same thing.
As for service I chose Solo Mobile who is owned by Bell. Lowest prices for the simple use I wanted, cheap phones, and no contract. I did a fair bit of research before I chose my carrier about four years ago, and again last month when I considered switching for a better phone. I have been very happy with Solo’s reliability. Only thing I could wish for is American plan pricing.

Interesting, what about the new service in South Country, is there a new Rogers tower or are they using AT&T’s?
I’m on a Rogers unlimited North America long distance for $50/mo and 25 gb data for $25/mo.

I remember reading about the tower last year, but my memory fails me. A quick search sent me here http://server2.cintek.com/scripts/ekrad … ting=16963 which tells me Telus /Bell are planning the extended coverage in the South Country.

http://www.clearwest.ca/wireless-news/story.asp?id=2764 also found this link that says Telus has already installed one tower in the south country. They quote they are spending $600 million on new infrastructure, I read else ware that Bell is matching them on this figure. As I stated earlier, Telus and Bell share a lot of there infrastructure.
As it is local between Cranbrook and Elkford, where I make the majority of my calls, I am on Solo’s old unlimited incoming with 400 min for $35.00 Solo’s equivalent to your plan would cost $70.00 for unlimited local and national.
