The Tourism Fernie AGM brought together more than 100 local business leaders, stakeholders, and tourism operators, highlighting a strong year for the sector and setting direction for the year ahead.

Held at the Fernie Golf Course, the event featured updates from Tourism Fernie’s management team on 2025 performance and priorities for 2026, alongside formal AGM business and board confirmation for the coming year.

Keynote presentations focused on major planning initiatives shaping Fernie’s future. Tim Reid and David Wittman presented the Sport Tourism Assessment Report, outlining opportunities to grow Fernie as a sport tourism destination while identifying infrastructure and capacity challenges that will need to be addressed. Ted Morton followed with insights from the Fernie and Elk Valley Regional Trails Strategy and Framework, emphasizing coordinated trail development and long-term planning across the region.

Additional updates from regional tourism leaders and local operators reinforced continued investment, new developments, and the role of events in driving visitation. The AGM also recognized milestone achievements across the community, from long-standing tourism operators to new business launches.

The Tourism Fernie AGM remains a key annual checkpoint for aligning strategy across the sector, with strong attendance reflecting its importance to the local economy.

The momentum carries into National Tourism Week with the Tourism Fernie Industry Party on April 23 at The Fernie Taphouse, offering a more informal opportunity for the industry to connect and build on the discussions from the AGM. Register here.
