The Sparwood Memorial Service for the eight snowmobilers who perished in the recent avalanche disaster will be held at 11am on Sunday January 4th. The City of Fernie send out their heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families and friends of the men.
The communities of Sparwood and Fernie have always been close. As such, the City of Fernie will be providing bus transportation to Sparwood for the memorial service for those who would like to attend.
We recommend taking the bus to help avoid parking congestion. Dress for an outside ceremony. Buses will leave Fernie Aquatic Centre promptly at 9:45am on Sunday.
For those who are unable to travel to Sparwood, the Memorial Service will also be broadcast live at the Fernie Community Centre. Doors open at 10am on Sunday January 4th.
The Service will also be broadcast on local channel 10.
Attending the memorial service will help the communities of Sparwood and the Elk Valley find comfort in the company of friends and family.
