Saturday’s Game
Saturday night the Kamloops Storm are in town to wrap up their two game series with the Ghostriders. The Riders played in Kamloops early in October where they won 3-2 in a shoot out. Jason Greenwell got the win in net and Chad Olson scored in regulation and in the S/O. Dave McIvor had the other goal. Since then the Storm have clinched first place in their division and after last weekend were in first by 13 points. But they still have something to prove and will want to win , you see they lost in the playoffs to the Ghostriders for the last two years in a row.

The Storm can score goals this year and with 200 already in the books are second only to Nelson with 220 in goals scored. The Riders are at 156 in the goal scoring department and have a 27- 13 -7 record, the Storm have a 32-12-4 record. David Gore 54 pts and Jose Reyes 52 pts. are the top Storm scorers. Meanwhile in net for the third year in a row is KIJHL All-Star Anthony Manfredi with a 25-8 record. Playing a first place team like the Storm will be a good measuring stick for the Riders
For the record… Kamloops is a privately owned team, their owner is Barry Dewar, and their Head Coach is Ed Patterson. The Storm moved from Osoyoos a few years ago where they won it all, the KIJHL a Cyclone Taylor Cup and a Keystone Cup. The Ghostriders are a community owned team with a board of directors elected by the community at the AGM held approximately one month after the last playoff game. The public is welcome at this meeting and the date will be posted in the newspaper and on the Ghostrider web site after the season is done.
Odds and Ends
The Ghostriders won games against Golden 3-2 and Creston 5-3 last weekend then went to Creston last Tuesday just five points behind the Cats in the battle for first place but lost 5-1. With the loss the odds are Creston will finish first….Defenseman Torin Brusven was the 
Ghostriders nominee for the January KIJHL Player of the Month…The big defenseman had a great January and so far in February he scored the first goal and had an assist on Scott Traverse’s game winner vs Golden, had an assist in the 5-3 Creston win then scored the lone goal Tuesday in Creston….When Brusven scored in Creston there was still 17:32 left in the game and the Riders were up THREE men… with the Cats down two men due to penalties Coach Will Verner pulled the goalie to get the third man advantage and it worked…. A gutsy move to make it 3-1 and get his team back in the game. –photo Torin Brusven-
