Zoning Bylaw Amendment Bylaw No. 2359

Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing has been scheduled for MONDAY, AUGUST 27, 2018 at 7:00PM in Council Chambers at Fernie City Hall, located at 501 – 3rd Avenue, Fernie BC so that Council may hear representations from persons who believe their interest in property is affected by a proposed amendment to Zoning Bylaw No 1750:

Location: City-Wide

Purpose: To amend the definition of “Motel” to allow for Park Model RVs to be used as accommodation units in a motel and amend the related off-street parking requirements accordingly. These changes would affect any properties that are permitted to be motels. The amendments to the Zoning Bylaw No. 1750 are as follows:

Insert the following sentence at the end of the definition of Motel in section 2.4:
“Motels may also include park model RVs (CSAZ241 – Park Model RV) operated as accommodation units where no more than 50% of all accommodation units for the motel are Park Model RVs. Park model RVs used as accommodation unit shall not be located closer than 1.5m from all buildings and shall be subject to the minimum setbacks required in a zone to the exterior parcel lines.”

Amend PART 5 OFF STREET PARKING AND LOADING, Figure 6 titled REQUIRED OFFSTREET PARKING SPACES by amending the parking requirements for “hotel, motel, lodge” by striking out the word “guest” and inserting the word “accommodation” under the column titled REQUIRED NUMBER OF SPACES.
