Life Flight International Inc. has officially completed the full setup of its newest operational base at Canadian Rockies International Airport, strengthening international medical transport capacity for the East Kootenay and surrounding region.
The new base was established following outreach to local hospital professionals as Life Flight International began staffing its operations at the airport. That outreach quickly gained traction, resulting in the recruitment of highly experienced local critical care doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and paramedics.
By combining this clinical expertise with its long-standing aviation partner, Babin Air, Life Flight International has formed a locally based air ambulance team capable of safely transporting patients anywhere in the world. The partnership brings together advanced medical care and proven aviation operations, allowing complex international medical evacuations to be coordinated directly from the region.
Founded in 1990 and headquartered in British Columbia, Life Flight International is a second-generation, family-owned air ambulance company specializing in worldwide medical repatriation and commercial medical escorts. The company is frequently called upon by travel insurance providers to manage long-range and high-acuity patient transfers when travellers become seriously ill or injured while abroad.
The establishment of a permanent base at Canadian Rockies International Airport enhances both regional readiness and global reach. For East Kootenay residents, it places highly specialized medical transport resources closer to home. For travellers, it adds reassurance that experienced air ambulance services may be available should an emergency occur overseas.
Life Flight International acknowledged the strong support received from the local medical community, noting that local engagement and expertise were instrumental in bringing the new base online.
