Friday night the Ghostriders play the Creston Thunder Cats. After their game last Sunday Creston was in 2nd place and have a 4-3-3 record in their last ten games. . The last time these teams played was November 21 in Creston where the Ghostriders won 2-1. Casey Silverson was the Cat nominee for the December Player of the Month and 20 year old Cole Yurkowski with 71 points is the KIJHL’s top scorer.
Creston played 3 games last weekend losing in 5-4 in O/T to Kimberley, winning 11-6 over Chase then losing 6-1 in Spokane. The Thunder Cats were out shot 46-19 in Spokane, we are telling you this because next Thursday Spokane will be here in Fernie playing a make up game from December 18 when the roads were bad. The Ghostriders won both of their games last weekend and now have a three game winning streak going and are 6-3-1 in their last ten games. Dave McIvor was the Ghostriders nominee for the KIJHL Player of the Month for December. McIvor was last nominated in September and was the winner.
Last Saturday the Ghostriders went to Invermere where they squeaked out a 2-1 win over the now last place Rockies. Goaltender Brady Berisoff got the start in net and he stoned the Rockies by stopping 31shots for his 8th win of the year. Matt Woiken had another strong game scoring both Rider goals in the first period. Radio announcer Grant Sigaty gave Scott Anderson and Brady Berisoff the nod as Rider game stars but as usual in Invermere, no matter how well any Rider plays, these homers give all the game stars to their players.
Good Luck Jason Greenwell, Dave McIvor, Karl Weberg and Scott Traverse Saturday night in the All-Star Game. And the same to our two 16 year olds Evan Burgess and Jordan Hirano in the Top Prospects game.

Tailfeathers up, Carter out.
Ghostrider Coach Will Verner made a couple of moves at the January 10th deadline. The first move was a move up for #10 Brock Tailfeathers. Coach Verner “Brock Tail Feathers has moved up the ladder to the Junior ‘A’ ranks. On Thursday, Jan 8 we released Brock to the Fort Frances Jr. Sabers of the SIJHL. We wish Brock all the best and thank him for his contributions to the Fernie Ghostriders and the Fernie community”.
It now seems that the Jimmy Carter experiment has failed. Last year at the Cyclone Taylor 
Cup Carter was playing with Victoria where his speed and hand skills were second to none. That prompted the Ghostriders to try and get him here in Fernie. They were successful and Carter played his first game on the 21st of November where he had 2 assists in a 2-1 win in Creston. Everything seemed to be working out, #26 had 9 points in his first 6 games and was a factor and game star in those games. Then the wheels fell off. Zero points in his last four games and an especially weak effort in his last game. Carter was never happy in Fernie and only played to his potential when he felt like it. He also wanted to play at the Jr”A” level so he was moved to back to the MJHL with the Dauphin Kings Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club.
With two open roster spots there is still a chance to pick up two more players. Verner says “We currently have 21 signed players and we have two open cards. We are allowed to sign any player 1991 to 1989 that is not currently registered with hockey Canada”.
