For the Eddie Mountain Division 24/25 season two Ghostriders Shine in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) Awards! Each year, the KIJHL recognizes outstanding performances with annual awards for on-ice excellence.

The categories include Most Valuable Player, Top Scorer, Top Defenceman, Top Goaltender, Rookie of the Year, Most Sportsmanlike Player, Coach of the Year, and the newly introduced General Manager of the Year. Winners are selected from each of the league’s four divisions ahead of the KIJHL Playoffs, with overall league winners announced at a later date.

Ghostriders Shine

Most Valuable Player – Taylor Haggerty, Fernie Ghostriders

Sherwood Park, Alta., native Taylor Haggerty has been named the Most Valuable Player in the Eddie Mountain Division. The Ghostriders forward led his team with an impressive 30 goals and 63 points over 43 games. His well-rounded game was highlighted by a +27 rating, 17 primary assists, and an average ice time of 19:56 per game. Additionally, he dominated in the faceoff circle, winning 59.76% of his draws, playing a crucial role in Fernie’s success as they finished sixth overall in the KIJHL.

Top Scorer – Taylor Haggerty, Fernie Ghostriders

Haggerty further solidified his impact by claiming the Top Scorer title in the Eddie Mountain Division. This marks his second consecutive 60-plus point season, amassing 30 goals and 63 points in 43 games. His offensive prowess included eight game-winning goals and 19 power-play points, securing his place as the third-highest scorer across the entire KIJHL.

Top Defenceman – Eric Martin, Fernie Ghostriders

Edmonton native Eric Martin made history for the Ghostriders, setting a new franchise record for points in a season by a defenceman. His offensive contributions were unmatched, leading all KIJHL blueliners with 59 points in 43 games, including 11 goals and 48 assists. Martin’s 25 primary assists showcased his elite playmaking ability, while his +27 rating underscored his two-way effectiveness. Averaging 25:46 of ice time per game, he was a pillar on the back end, ranking fifth in the league for both power-play assists (14) and power-play points (17).

The Fernie Ghostriders’ standout performances this season have earned them well-deserved recognition, with Haggerty and Martin making a significant mark on the league. As the KIJHL Playoffs approach, their contributions will be instrumental in Fernie’s postseason campaign.
