Friday’s Game Vs Chase
The Ghostriders play the Chase Chiefs of the Okanagan Division this Friday @ 7:30. After last weekend the Chiefs were tied with 39 points for second place in their division with the Sicamous Eagles and are 5-4-1 in their last 10. The Chiefs were a first year expansion team last year and only missed the playoffs by a point but they have a good shot at making the post season this year. Chase won their last game 5-4 in overtime last Saturday against the aforementioned Eagles. Former Rider Brad Sykes is now playing for Chase, he wears # 17… The Chiefs have a tough schedule this weekend; they’re in Fernie Friday, in Creston Saturday and in Beaver Valley Sunday. Casey Patterson is their top scorer and Brandon Mistal with 10 goals and 27 points is their top 16 year old.

Odds and ends
Rider forward Tyson Bentley Scored the lone Rider goal vs. Revelstoke then scored two more and added 2 assists the next night in the Rockies game….Bentley was acquired from Chase back in September where he had 28 points last season. So far this year he has 12 goals and 30 points…. With a goal and an assist last weekend Rider forward Dave McIvor with 54 points was number five in KIJHL scoring after the weekend… Rider fans will see the top scorer, Creston’s Cole Yurkowski with 64 pts, here in Fernie next Friday… Lots of Jr. “A” interest in sixteen year old defenseman Evan Burgess, looks like he’s a sure thing to move up next year….. (88) came to Fernie late in November after not playing at all this year. Torin got off to a slow start but has his legs now and at 6’ 3” 205 pounds he’s arguably the Ghostriders most effective “D” man… Matt MacDonald who missed a couple of months with an injury is being eased back in the lineup and last week and played parts of of one game. ..The Ghostriders played most of their road games earlier in the season and now have only one road game in January, and that’s Saturday night in Invermere…Last Friday, Kamloops, one of the best -teams in the league, visited Grand Forks, only 101 fans showed up, 770 were here watching the Riders play Revelstoke. We thank you for your support….Between the 50/50 money and a top up from the Ghostrider organization last Friday, $ 1000 went to the families of the Sparwood avalanche victims. -photo Evan Burgess-
And just this week the Ghostriders have added another coach to their staff. Former 16 year NHLveteran Steve Konowalchuk will be on the bench Friday and for the rest of the season. How lucky are the Ghostriders
