Fernie, the famed powder snow laden ski town on the Powder Highway in the Canadian Rockies, wins the award of being named the best Ski Resort in North America at the prestigious World Snow Awards. Beating out Banff, Whistler, Aspen, Vail and many others, Fernie won this award, being chosen from a shortlist by a panel of leading ski and snowboard experts and by public votes.

The winners of the World Snow Awards 2012 were revealed Friday 2nd November, at a buzzing London ceremony in Earls Court 2, home to the Ski and Snowboard Show. They revealed the hotly anticipated results in the resort category.
